Carlisle, Ohio, Bankers, Police Battle Identity Theft [CARLISLE, OH]

Mar. 17--CARLISLE, Ohio - Gloria Williams, vice president of Community National Bank, has seen many of the common tricks.
From people opening accounts using altered driver's licenses to phony checks, bankers in Carlisle are seeing an uptick in what is also a rising national criminal trend: identity theft.
"I'm just amazed at some of this stuff. I really am," Williams said.
She should expect to see more, said Carlisle Police Chief Robert Pieper, as identity theft continues to gain popularity among the criminal ranks.
